  • Hello Nathan,

When backing up by sector, each sector of the hard disk is saved separately. This means that the file system and type of data are

irrelevant. Thus you can save a drive with your Windows OS even if it was formatted under Linux or Mac® OS. But it also means that the save process will be very slow.

  • can you backup an encrypted drive?

  • Hello yousurfer2,

This depends on the kind of encryption used. But in general all encrypted files or drives can be imaged. Please be aware that in some cases the backup files can be pretty big, because the entire drive (including unsued sektors) has to be saved.

I would suggest to try how this version works for you.

    Best regards

    Your Paragon Software Team

  • You need to use recovery disk to boot the PC and restore backup with its help. Recovery cd is part of drive backup.

  • So I want to backup to an external hard drive. Once I upgrade to Windows 7, if there was an error in the installation, how would I be able to use the backup to recover back to Vista? Would I have to use a recovery disk/USB drive, then once I recover, use the backup to get back all my programs and stuff?

  • What's the difference between backing up by sector and backing up without checking the "by sector box."
