POLICE have launched a criminal investigation after a Carrickmore man had part of his ear bitten off during trouble at the division one league final in Dunmoyle on Sunday.
Violence erupted among supporters from Dromore and Carrickmore after fighting spread from the pitch into the stand towards the end of the game, resulting in numerous injuries including broken bones and lacerations to the face.
During the ensuing chaos at the front of the stand, it's understood that the man in his early 40s had the bottom part of his ear severed after being bitten. The Carrickmore man was immediately taken to Craigavon Area Hospital where he was told there was little could be done.
@lazyeyejohn
Like this shite doesn't happen at junior matches in every county in the country. Twat. Last year a referee in Dublin was blinded in one eye and ended up with epilespy when a teenager from one of the northside clubs broke a hurley in two over his head when he was walking to the dressing rooms.
