August 4, 2011 - The Conservatives launched a new agency called Shared Services Canada Thursday in an attempt to slash IT costs across the entire government, a move that also result in job losses, Treasury Board President Tony Clement said Thursday.

The federal government now spends about $5 billion a year on IT. About $2 billion will go to the new agency.
