Engineering firm partnets Melton, Chadwick and O'Brien invite two young strangers to dinner on Christmas Eve. The two, James and Jean, fall in love. When the three friends are then killed in a plane crash, they come back to their old home as ghosts to help the young couple get through some rough patches in their relationship.
Your commercials suck ass.

So James is going off to the country for several days with that other woman and he thinks it's all innocent, eh? Jeepers, a Texas hick in1940 didn't know nothin' about intermingling private parts having a way of coming about and all.

I can't believe I've never seen nor heard of this movie until now. And today, I just stumbled onto it. What a delightful movie and what a suburb cast. C. Aubrey Smith, Charles Winninger and Harry Carey were perfect in their roles. .

I love this movie. Biggest surprise is Richard Carlson`s beautiful singing voice ! According to two film reference books he did his own singing. Thanks for sharing with Us. Lorraine

Originally released through RKO-Radio in May 1940, reissued by Astor Pictures in 1946. Several DVD editions are retitled "Beyond Christmas". Richard Carlson, who played "James", later found TV success on "I LED 3 LIVES" in the mid-'50s.
