Leo "Chief TWiT" Laporte brought the live video streaming service Ustream.tv into the studio with him today as he recorded his technology radio show, "The Tech Guy," on KFI. As geeks caught on, via Twitter and other channels, his viewers quickly multiplied... and inevitably, the live video stream hit Digg.
Laporte's stream suddenly jumped to 550, where it seemed the Ustream.tv server capped things, and the chatroom filled with trolls and spammers cutting and pasting nonsense. "Naughty Digg spammers," Laporte noted. "Oh no, it's going to get shut off."
Among the most persistent demands was "keyboard on head," inspired by a longstanding webcam meme wherein bored trolls would talk camgirls into placing various objects on their heads, notably shoes (or "SOH"). Finally, Laporte succumbed, putting his keyboard on his head before taking requests with his 'ukulele.
His viewer number peaked at well over 650... before Ustream.TV's servers crashed. As of this posting, the site is still dead.
