The Jenkinson Building was conceived in 2004 and substantially designed internally by Ray Taberer of the Rothamsted Technical Support Services Department. The project was fully funded by the BBSRC at cost of £4.4m. The main contractor was SDC Ltd (project manager - Mike Northwood) with Sanyo-Gallenkamp as the sub-contractor. The internal project manager George Smith of Pasterfields. The building will be used by staff from all Rothamsted Centres and substantially supplements the facilities on site and makes the connection between laboratory-based and field-based science.
