Wow! I never even thought of hand feeding birds. I'm not sure this is such a grand idea, at least not for everyone. I mean, read the comments! One guy who obviously works too much, wants to eat the wild birds. I guess his job doesn't pay well. For those of us who enjoy our leisure time birdwatching, well, indeed we would be better off to let the birds do their own wild thing! I must admit though, if ever I could feed the birds from my hands, I would be truly amazed.

hold seed. don't move. squeeze hand.  apply bbq sauce after plucking. Pan fry quickly over high heat. enjoy with a nice chianti.

Love those Nuthatches, they are fearless little birds. Watching them from my window with my cats is good enough for me, dont have hours on end to get the birds used to me being outside by the feeders.
