DIY vacuum former made from salvaged parts. The only purchased pieces were a two-prong plug for the cord and the 1x2 firring strips for the plastic holder frame.

  • Wow!... And its so obvious!!!... What a cheeky way of saving a few hundred quid!... Thank you!!!... I'm going to try it but instead, using the hoover I have with the extension hose pushed into a suitable adaptor.

Did you just pick the size of the surface holes out of the air, or did you find there was an optimal size?

    Simple and brilliant!...

  • @maffysdad I "picked" the size of the surface holes based on the scrap pegboard I had lying around that I scavenged out of a store dumpster.

  • Great! Where do you get the plastic sheets? Do they have to be special? Thanks!

  • @elwylly I got them at a craft store, but your local home improvement store should have some sheets as well.

  • Gaffers tape. It needs to be replaced every so often due to the glue failing, but it's cheap so who cares.

  • @NickSkvarla home improvement store has the sheets? whats it used for, just heat forming? the local stores here seem kinda useless unless you give them the normal application name. they have no idea what the diff items are made of, or other uses for stuff :( case in point, asked local gas station attendant for zippo fluid or bronsen fluid. she pointed me to butane. thats 2 trade names normal people would know. she was ~50yr old so no excuses. empty zippo waits i guess :(

  • Hey there!! This is amazing! I was wondering .... Is there a difference in plastics? I wanna use my molds for resin ... i would hate for the resin to melt through it ... Thank ya!!

  • That's a very nice job. Cheap, simple, very effective and nicely demonstrated too.

    Thank you.
