Oona Kirsch as Anne Boleyn

Oona Kirsch stars as Anne Boleyn in the 80's television drama 'God's Outlaw'. The film portrays her in a very positive (if not slightly naive) light. It demonstrates her radical religious beliefs, (something not often seen on screen), whilst telling the story of William Tyndale. The production is rather dated, and features a shocking 80's synthesised soundtrack. This is made much worse by Keith Barron's embarrassing Henry VIII (who is continually either standing on chests or sitting down when another man is in the room, to disguise his height!). A lot of the costumes have been recycled from the film 'Henry VIII & his Six Wives' (Anne wears Lynne Fredericks Katherine Howard gown) and the BBC series 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII (Anne again wears a Katherine Howard dress which had been worn by Angela Pleasance whilst her character awaits Execution). The film itself gives a very factual account of Tyndale's life, death & legacy, and certainly is worth a look.

Thank you for posting this video. I didn't know about this one. It is refreshing to see a movie about Anne Boleyn, King Henry, and the Reformation of the Church which was a very large part of Queen Anne's reign and all that took place throughout the duration of Henry's "great matter". Often films overlook the large religious influences in order to concentrate on the romances and the dramatic aspects of the situation(s). Again, thank you and your time is appreciated!
