Spirituality (not religion) and Science

Science and Spirituality need not be at odds. In fact, the more science has delved into the empirical make up of the physical (quantum mechanics, string theory/multiple dimensions), biological (Gaia hypothesis, autopoiesis, complex systems), and psychological worlds (meditation, entheogenic plant therapy, integral theory), the more space began to open up for a spiritual interpretation. Reality is not what it seems.

We need not continue talking about "God" as though "He" were some supernatural being who lives in the sky and designed the universe.
Spirituality is just the acknowledgement that rationality (ratio=duality) is not the final end of human consciousness. The goal of human existence, in my humble opinion, is not to believe in God, it is to realize God Consciousness for ourselves. God Consciousness is the experience of non-duality, of cosmic unity, of wholeness.

The United States National Academy of Sciences has just published a book on Science, Evolution and Creationism (napDOTorg). It is intended for a general audience but might be a good source of quotes. I liked this one:

I like it, too. I think fundamentalist Christians need to stop trying to deny the findings of science and start adapting their form of spirituality to the evidence. Knowledge does not offer us a complete view of the nature of existence, though it may often solve what were once problems. There is plenty of room left for a spiritual outlook even with, if not because of, much of contemporary science.

I left a video response. I feel that people that can at least understand or accept your point of view are parts of human consciousness waking up. The ties between Science and Religion. I'm so happy to find someone else who agrees. I just came across this revolution recently and I have the greatest urge to share this information.

Humans are bacteria, all our thoughts on meaning and ourselves are biological tricks to keep perpetuating the race. You need to stop arguing about a fucking question that no one can provide absolute truth on. Loose your ego, come to the realization that we all exist on this same rock. Think for yourself. I deal in science. I studied science and I despise the church who plays on our fears. But on my limited perception, on the field, I worked with transgenic crops for years, I can see order and method behind the madness. Enough to suggest the possible existance of a grand engineer, designer behind it all. Some of the language used to write the universe we already know, some of the chapters are and will be a mystery, for the next million years
