The father should be charged, if he's not dead. I don't think the teen should be charged as an adult. Yes, he may know right from wrong, but teens lack impulse control. They act solely on emotion. So when the father gave him that gun, it was basically teaching him that it's okay to react without thinking. This teen may have known that it was wrong to have the gun in the first place, but since an adult handed it to him this was telling him that wrong is okay.

I dont see any problem with giving a 14 year old a gun. You can see many familys especially out in the country revolving around guns and passing down the family shotgun or ect. But i feel in order to first the kid must be taught respect and gun saftey/control until they feel he can have complete access to firearms

I think that anyone who owns or buys a firearm for another should be responsible and mentally sane. Just my thought.

One never knows what goes on behind closed doors, even the closed door to ones' heart. As to why his dad would by him a real gun, who knows. Maybe that's something they had talked about. Maybe they had outings where his dad taught him to shoot and felt that he was responsible enough only to use it to protect himself/family/home if he wasn;t there to do it. Really, who knows what prompted him to do such a thing. You don't hurt the people you love, maybe he was getting back at someone & panicked.

I think u should make sure the person can handle it becuz I am 14 and own and operate 3 guns and have Been through multiple safety classes so don't judge he obviously had a physiological problem

@msreen I don't believe that I run on impulses that much, I am a teen and am very much in control of my self. I currently own and operate 2 Firearms Remington 870 super magnum, Ruger 10/22. What this kid did was wrong, and he should be prosecuted to the fullest, At the age of 14 he should have the common scene of what a gun dose to people. This is a disgrace and he should be given life imprisonment for his actions. I can understand if he shot 1 person on accident, but what he did is murder.
