40K -7500 =32500 to start .. wonder if GM money will apply .. that's another 3500 off... then the dealer should take some off ..but I don't think that's going to happen the first year..
I'd buy one if I got the chance .. but I think the first year it will be hard to find one... hopefully the second year they have a CUV version.
the point I'm making is that the car could actually save the owner money over the life of the vehicle
In any case, I would not recommend buying the first generation car, unless you are well off. First generation cars are known for glitches. Second and third generation should be improved and less costly, offering even greater savings. Just let the high profile people buy this first generation, unless you are a collector.
Let's do some math: typical car 25 MPG $24,000 Volt 200MPG $40,000 Vehicle Life 200,000 miles Price per gallon $2.50- $4.50 cost of gasoline over life- typical vehicle 200,000 miles divided by 25 miles 8000 gallons multiplied by $2.50-$4 = $20,000- $36,000 Volt 200,000 divided by 200 = 1000 miles times $2.50- $4.5 = $2500-$4500 Volt saves $17,500- $31,500 over 200K miles Purch. premium is $40K - 24K= $16K Purch. Prem less fuel savings equals $1,500- $15,500
Teens love very loud cars, only us old people love quite lol.

30K and a 12 year warranty on the battery.
This car looks awesome.
I'm going to get one for me, one for my wife, and one for my kids in 2012.
