Far too fast. The studio version was perfect...

Great find! I'm sure that most will disagree with me, but this is one of the few recordings I've seen and heard with the "passion" that I think Linda had when he wrote and recorded mBube. I'm not sure what he'd have thought of the style, but I'm sure he would have loved the heart!

@homolgus : Trouble was, image and appearance were everything in those days (cf Ian Stewart with the Rolling Stones). Many's the superb muso who had to be satisfied with playing on the sessions for some skinny long-haired little git who grabbed all the glory.

All three are now deceased, but what memories !

he had a great voice, also dont forget the real genius that is the guitar player, he was brilliant before clapton hendrix et al and never mentioned when great players are mentioned

I love this song but at the start he sounds like Vic Reeves doing the cabaret singer on shooting stars.

@stewarthw It´s not his, the song is originally from solomon linda, and it´s called "mbube", it was recorded in the 30´s. Altough I agree with you, this is a beautiful performance, and it touches us deeply. great voice.
You've got to wonder why people listen to Rap!
