It happened all over usa a year or two ago. But I guess was pollen because there are barely any honey bees left.

@91177info This happened back in the 90's too. No-one would believe me then either. But sand can get sucked up into the upper atmosphere, getting a carried thousands of mile before getting dumped.

epic fail, this is pollen not sand...sand would not stick to your fingers with that consistency nor would it clump up like in some of the photos.. FAIL

interesting...while it is spring, i wouldn't dismiss other concerns out of hand...do you know someone with a microscope? Grit/sand/dirt looks very different than pollen...we have had an epidemic of dirt from somewheres, and before you try to tell this asthmatic that it's pollen, explain how it landed on our mountaintops and melted all the snow, and our plants not even out yet....thank you for the report on this-is there an update? }:-

FFS it's Pollen.
Here in California I deal with that crap on my wind shields during this time of year.
Sand does not cake like that in dry weather.
Pollen however cakes naturally as you can clearly see the layers on the windshield in the video.
Honey bee and Carpenter bees dragging that stuff all over the place.
High pollen season, ANYONE who has allergies can tell you what you are seeing in this video.
Theres your test subject. Knock yourself out.
I'll be sneezing all the way to the bank.

if the guy sez it is sand then it is sand...the saharan winds blow this stuff out over the atlantic all the time. that some change of wind direction would steer the dust north is not a problem in my mind. either way it is nothing to worry about.
