A few minutes with my Grandma in 2006. What a wonderful spirit.
October 26, 1918 - July 09, 2011
Obituary:
Ellen Marie (McKee) McKittrick, age 92, died peacefully at home in Brookline, NH, on July 9, 2011, after a long period of declining health. She was surrounded by her family, and she had been lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Molly Wolff.
She was born to the late Charles and Christine (Rickhoff) McKee in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, October 26, 1918. She married Warren McKittrick on March 17, 1943 in Steger, Illinois, and was his loving wife until his death in 1986. A graduate of Illinois State Normal University, she was at various times a full time homemaker, a teacher, a real estate agent, and a volunteer tax preparer. In her later years, she indulged her lifelong hobby of collecting antiques by becoming an antiques dealer.
Marie was an avid reader and collector of books, with a special passion for children\'s literature, historical novels, and sagas of settlement of the American Prairie and the West. She was an active member of Mason Congregational Church until mobility problems made it difficult for her to attend. She was particularly fond of the music and children\'s programs at the church.
Marie is survived by six children and their families: James McKittrick of Birmingham, Alabama; David and Jeanette McKittrick of Richmond, Virginia; Richard and Ann McKittrick of Lincolnville Center, Maine; Kathleen and William Murphy of Brookline, New Hampshire, with whom she lived; Deborah and Len Slack of Deer Lodge, Tennessee; and Gary and Bethany McKittrick of Crystal Lake, Illinois. She is also survived by her sister, Helen McKee Buxton, of Crete, Illinois, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Her ever-cheerful and friendly spirit will be missed by us all.
