Nice of you to show these packs on the cutting edge of ul-backpacking. We gotta get the word out to those that can learn and appreciate the wisdom of lighter gera. I am amazed out how unreceptive people are to use and or making their own lightweight gear. It seems once someone has made a decision and spent money for an item, they think nothing else is better. Their loss, I suppose.

@bitanmal I haven't used this pack but letting your sleeping pad (if you carry one) unroll inside and packing from there adds support and helps stabilize your load, I think.

I am 5-11 165lbs doing week long trips with about 20lbs of weight (not including my 5lb pack). I am considering the jam or jam2 and the exodus. Any advice?

I am interested in buying an Exodus pack. I am wondering what's the best method to use a foam pad to use as some sort of back support/virtual frame? Since this pack does not have a sleeve to insert the pad in. Based on ur experience with this pack what do you use?

This looks a lot like GoLite's Jam II pack, which I think you have as well.
cheers

@AJourneyOfYourSoul that should be pack, not back.

Jason, what is the length of your torso and what is the size of the back you ordered? It looks like it fits great.
Thanks
So how's it compare to the Gossamer Mariposa?
We need a throwdown comparo.

I'd love to do a side by side comparison but they're really 2 different packs. The Mariposa is larger and has a frame so it will handle bigger loads. The Exodus is frameless and smaller. Since I have both, it might make sense for me to replace my Jam with the Exodus for summer UL trips, and replace my ULA P-2 with the Mariposa for UL winter trips. Of course, I'm always taking different packs to me so I'm not really wedded to choosing just one pack and sticking with it.

Nice pack, thanks for the review.
I am curious to see how the fabric holds up over the season?

I've used this same Dyneema for a while and can tell you it's pretty much bullet proof. My old Jam used regular Gridstop Dyneema and it still looks new. But on the Exodus, they use Gridstop Dyneema - X which is even more durable. I'd be shocked if there were any durability issues but I'll certainly keep you posted.
