you are from the ROI, so won't be called a 'brit' by someone else from the ROI, hence "why would you ever hear such comments?" - unless you're near someone from NI at the very moment they're being insulted. but I, being from NI who regularly attends GAA matches in the ROI, regularly hear such insults.
