When are Americans going to start demanding that every American regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, or minor mental or physical defect assume responsibility for their own actions/future? You are responsible if you commit a crime. You are responsible if you have to many children to feed and clothe without help from others. You are responsible if you choose to be a single parent. They have tons of programs to get black people into college but they drop out before they get there. They make fun of others who try to educate themselves.

Capitalism is based on voluntary cooperation, the very opposite of slavery. Our money going to foreign wars and many other wasteful projects is obviously a bad thing, but we shouldn't be paying for more people to be poor either. Adults are responsible for themselves and if their personal choices lead them into poverty then they should bear the full cost of those choices. We can ensure children get adequate education and care, but not free adults.

@Kalydosos Before the English, it was the Romans enslaving the eastern Europeans. Before that, it was the Greek with barbarian slaves, the Persians with slaves of whatever country they conquered, the Egyptians, and so on. They all had slaves. The Arabs and larger African tribes introduced black slaves to the world. After that was outlawed, the Asians were enslaved. Have you ever hard of coolies? Probably not. You act like blacks were the only people ever to be enslaved. Get over yourself.
