Taking a little break from working on the front hatch cover and upper loop around it and thought I'd run the PRR 2-8-0 a bit. This engine really cranks out a heavy volume of smoke...Coda likes watching it too...

  • Is it scale???

  • @4202EJW I believe it is semi scale as it is a Rail King engine, not a premier.

  • Does it look good with scale cars?? I am decideing what kind of MTH steamer I should get (I am a teen and this would be my first?!).

  • @4202EJW It looks OK with scale cars, but of course not as good as a scale engine does. It is a great loco for it's price. Sounds good, looks good, smokes good and pulls like a mule...lol

  • @puttrainguy it is not scale, however it is pretty close, and it looks nothing like premier, big detail difference

  • @ELMSLines Did I appear to need corrections Everett ? I previously said it was semi scale- railking, not premier. And I'm well versed in the differences. But thanks for stopping by... So glad to hear you enjoyed the video so much.

  • @puttrainguy i was pointing out that it is quite close to scale(extremely close)

  • @iinlovejameslafferty I'm talking about the 4-6-0 they offer in starter sets, which seems to be very similar to this 2-8-0. Originally I was thinking I'd try to break up a set to get a 4-6-0, but getting these starter set engines solo doesn't make a whole lot of sense. $200 seems to be a fair price for the engines while the whole sets are only $280. Break up a set yourself by selling what you don't want on Ebay. I'm thinking I'll sell the RealTrax (I'm using Fastrack) and keep the rest!

  • @icjefferys Awesome! Thanks for the info! And are you talking about the vintage 4-6-0 they have now? It's a nice locomotive!

  • @iinlovejameslafferty After a fair amount of digging, I found that this Rail King Rugged Rails 2-8-0 Consolidation engine was also available solo, not part of a set. The product code is 33-1012-1, though it may be tough to find now. I've got my heart set on the "replacement" for this engine, the newer MTH Ten Wheeler. I was in love with this stuff 15 years ago as a little kid and now I'm getting sucked back into it!
