National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Time of Apollo

NTIS AVA03129VNB1, 1975

The program presents President Kennedy saying "this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safety to earth" in 1961. Proves that Project Apollo has been successful.

  • Also remember this was a some what time for NASA. Their budget had been slashed and after Apollo-Soyuz in 1975, they were essentially grounded and out of the manned spaceflight business until 1981. The shuttle was supposed to fly in 1979 but was almost 2 years late in getting off the ground.

  • Love the narration too. Burgess Meridith did a lot of NASA documentaries in the 60s and 70s. (I used to watch them in grade school) It's depressing that we did so much back then, and it took a massive outcry to get the hubble fixed.

  • AWESOME, and to think they did all that in less then 8 months.
