i love this band and this is one of my favorite drumers BUT i didnt like the drum solo that much

I think I've seen him switch to traditional grip a few times on one of these Cosmosquad videos, but he is mostly matched grip like you say.
Have you heard Acid Test yet? Gaalaas lays down some wicked double bass, among everything else.
