http://gregjoder.wordpress.com/ ~ In this clip (Part I of II) I spend a day with a group of artisanal fishermen in the Sea of Cortez near Bahia San Luis Gonzaga. It was a poor day of fishing for them and an eye-opener for me. In all, for over 10 hours work José Luis and José pulled in five fish, 3 good eels, 1 ray, two bad eels, one starfish, and hooked one sea lion. That with 700 hooks set eight times. Great footage! Sorry to see how poor the fishing was, maybe it was just a bad day. These guys work their @ss off while the big commercial fishing boats and shrimpers go into protected areas and overfish all the time. The Sea of Cortes has such great potential but its poorly managed and overexploited.
