Raising Chickens - Visit my blog at http://successwithpoultry.blogspot.com for chicken raising tips and info.
In this video eggs have been put into an incubator to hatch. This short clip shows the progress of the eggs over their hatching period. It includes the developmental stages of the chick in the egg, aswell as showing a chick hatching out. Interesting to anyone looking into breeding / keeping chickens or having a backyard flock.

  • how many weeks does it takes for a egg to hach???my hen just started to lay some eggs....

  • If the eggs are fertilized and she is sitting on them almost constantly then it will take approx. 3 weeks.

  • Hi friend, could you tell me, will a lamp help a egg to hatch.

I think the egg is hatching, because there seems to be cracks showing, not sure if it is the chick pearing on a smash in the egg.

  • It can take 24 hours from first pip to a fully hatched chick so it may just be that the chick is taking its time. If you are using an incubator you should follow the manufacturers instructions (they all can vary a little). Heat is important but so are the humidity levels and if you have too much heat without the right humidity the chick may not be able to hatch.

  • @chowderboy73 They have to be fertile eggs, not typical from the eggs you would buy at the store. They need to be from hens with a rooster.

  • I need help! my homeowners association wont allow hens. I have always wanted to do this and the city says its ok. Does anyone know a way past the homeowners association!

  • it looks a little crowded in that incubator :( but i guess its ok

  • @chowderboy73 NO, those are infertile eggs! those eggs are useless!

  • Lol MARTHA!!!! CHICKS ARE READY!!!!

  • @chowderboy73 Normally you would buy eggs that are sold as hatching eggs.

  • not when their suffering ,I cull all suffering chicks that have no chance of a good life. Its the humane thing to do. If your gonna be a farmer,, be one !! dont half ass it

  • lol farmer brown

  • in the industry i watched a video were they put allll the males in a grinder now that is fucked up they go into a grinder a brand new baby put intoo a grinder new life destroyed cause its a boy wooooow

  • incubating chicks is a serious business. one must not think of doing it by himself but rather buy a pre-hatched chick. there is no such thing as perfect chicks. Mine got one of its legs twisted way over it backs. but I have to stick with it. IT A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE SEEING THE CHICK SUFFERS. and NO, EUTHANIZING IS AN IRRESPONSIBLE WORD.
