@TehBANN3D That's funny, because slave labor also once helped cultivate & create an industry (cotton) and allowed Southern white slave owners to create economic empires & amass great wealth through exploitation, coercion, intimidation and punishment. And they were such wonderful entrepreneurs, that they were able to produce up to three-quarters of the world's cotton production by 1850. But you're probably right, I'm just being critical of those practices because I live in the post slavery era...

@armonocracy The Guilded Age brought the highest growth in GDP, the highest growth in per capita income, and the highest growth in tangible wealth. It's easy to condemn economic practices when you have the luxury of a post industrial economy. However, children were a cheap source of labor in a labor ready market and so naturally they played an economic role.
