Inside the Lancaster County Prison [Lancaster, PA]

Lancaster County Prison, built on high ground at the eastern edge of Lancaster, PA in 1851, was patterned on a castle in Lancashire, England. Builders designed its massive stone facade to assure the public that the bad guys could not escape. That prison could hold up to 160 men. You guys see this as trying to show you how bad the conditions are? I see it as proof that our incarceration rate gone up 10 times in ~150 years.

1851- Capacity of 129 people.

2011- Capacity of 1029. But Incarcerate 1300+

I bet 50% of these people are non-violent drug possession offenders. Just more proof on how the war on drugs has failed.

All of us are paying out of our asses for these people to stay here.

Keep the murderers, rapists, pedofiles, and thieves. Therapy for everyone else.

f that place the police are corrupt in that state and beat me up and several occasions then put me in that over crowded place cuz theyll throw you in and you wont get a hearing for months they throw you in kennels what they use to keep the dogs and you sleep on boats on the floor thank god i left that Lancaster my lifes so much better and i dont get beat by police officers

People want to sit here and complain about life in prison. It's not supposed to be a vacation spot. It's not supposed to be a fun place to go and visit the rest of your family that is there. it is supposed to be a place that makes you think about the next time you break the law. And yet peole still keep coming back. Quit breaking the law and hurting other people and you won;t have to come back..The choice is yours.

I have been in LCP .. The jail sucks ... its terrible ...
