This animation zooms in on the centre of the Milky Way using images taken by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. It ends with an artist's conception of the galaxy's central black hole, Sgr A*, and a disc of matter that undergoes a flare as it falls into the hole (Courtesy of NASA/CXC) More: http://space.newscientist.com/article...

some of you are idiots, of course you cant see a black hole the name says it its black! it blends in, the gravitational effect it hs on things around it lets u know if it is a blackhole, also before anybody makes to the center of the galaxy there ships will burn up too many stars near each other and the black hole will tear it apart!
I've just read up on the electric universe - it's very interesting and provides a very good alternative to the current models. I just hope they are going to investigate it further. There seems to be one or two heavy debates going on in the "bad astronomy forum."
I have become more and more tilted towards the electric theory, because I know stuff about electricity and the "marbles" ideas never really sat well anyway, because they are too paradoxal and disputable.. It is sort of astonishing how "scientists" can shut the door on self-evident thing just because they, well, don't understand, or it doesn't fit their bias, or they fear for their sponsorships.. ;P
