  • @Texmurphy51 And how much energy does it take to: 1. Drill for oil 2. Ship it to a refinery 3. Refine it (now that's an efficient process) 4. Store it. 5. Transport it to you local gas station. 6. Store it. 7. And use it in an ICE with an efficiency of under 20%... Yeah you're better off using electric power. :D
  • So excited that I will be able to convert my '93 Honda! I never want another car. Going to install solar panels for both charging batteries and photovoltaic cells to convert the sun's energy DIRECTLY into electrical energy.

  • i was thinking about converting to LPG gas, but if it is cost efficent i will convert my old Panal Van, you yanks would call it a truck , but its an Australian Falcon you can see it on my youtube page i do love it, and would consider keeping it for as long as possible.

  • @automotiveDIY

Actually it might. Remember, energy companies have an interest in people continuing to believe that. Look up Nikola Tesla some time, it's surprising what you might find.

  • @rock3tcat too bad that diesel generators make your electricity. electricity doesn't just come out of thin air

  • And how much energy does it take to 1) buy 2 solar panels, inverter, brackets and wires 2) hire an electrician?

  • @gratedrake1 also don't forget that the power that we want today is MUCH more than what we had in the 20's, 300hp motors are a lot of power compared to maybe 20-40hp of back then.

  • @gratedrake1 most of the problem is weight. Cars back then didn't weigh nearly as much as they do now...all the safety features, creature comforts, materials used and what not is very different from back in the 1920's where for example tires where much thinner, cars were made out of thin metal with no safety engineering at all, not to mention forget about A/C and gigantic comfy leather seats like we have today. It does suck though that we can't build cars with high travel range.

  • Curiously, those who complain about pollution from electric cars & hybrids don't actually give a shit about carbon output or climate change - they just think they have a valid argument against these vehicles. They don't however, as even a simple Google search will show.
