Super Mario World - TSRPR: Part 2 - World 1 Stages 4-5 and S1

*yawns* A little late getting this uploaded today, but a needed nap was a needed nap. Today I finish up the first world in TSRPR and also uncover the first of the secret stages! The secret stage should provide a little amusement.

Stage 4: Koopa Lake #1 - This stage is pretty simple, really... Almost nothing but koopas, koopas, and more koopas, so bring out the fire flower! It is easy to tell that Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart use almost the exact same soundfont for their music since the Koopa Beach BGM in this stage sounds nearly identical.

Stage 5: Lakeside Castle - Being the first castle in this game, it is pretty straightforward. This is where you would normally get your first cape. There is a secret exit in this stage as well that requires the cape. The only alteration to the boss is it uses the setup for the original Mario World's 7th castle boss instead of the first... oh well, still goes down with a few fire balls.

Secret Stage 1: Green Hill Zone - Yes, you read that correctly. The author has decided to make the old Star World levels into something very different! Now they are Sonic themed levels, but they are not constructed the same as in the original Sonic game. Keep an eye out for a rather humiliating cameo for the blue hedgehog within this stage... hehehe.

You are likely using a ZSNES version that is 1.4x... That particular range of versions does not work with TSRPR. Try updating to the latest version of ZSNES to get rid of the freezing issue.

I tried to play the SNES Earthbound game... but they are just too unusual for me. I really am not a fan of the pure text battle system and the game is just too down-right strange.

Well... Mega Man games technically classify as platforming... I am rather fond of those. XD Hmm... If you want a platformer that is just crazy and bizarre you can try the two Earthworm Jim games for the SNES. There is also the Donkey Kong Country games... there is generally just a ton of platformers to choose from on the NES and SNES in particular.

Regarding the item box at ~3:20: My guess is that crashing into the ground caused a shell to bounce into an item box, is all. Not really a bug. :P

Have to say, though, this was a good choice of SMW hack to play through. It's one of the few I can say I actually enjoyed all of the technical touches to.
