Supposedly told new troops: "If you do not know how to do a task, we will teach you; if you do not WANT to do a task, we will MAKE you." Whatever, he succeeded. Stalin finally got the messaage after the first few months when the Soviets had sustained horrendous casualties and disastrous defeats. He then listened to his commanders who were at the scenes of the actions and allowed them to participate in the planning of operations. Chuikov, Rokosovsky, Koniev were also great commanders.

@ZRedWingZ nice try but i never said that he couldnt beat them i said that he wasnt as famous as the others and also get facts straight Rommel never fought on the eastern front there for never had the chance to test against Zhukov Since after all he died on hitlers orders Though when you think about it Rommel would probably have won Zhukov was a good general but rommel had experiance/loyalty of troops and actuall military tactics that would have resulted in close 5x more deaths for the russians

@The9thGeneral my friend don't lie to yourself, rommel, goering, etc lost to zhukov.
-
i wouldn't say Zhukov is The most famous field marshal in WW2 i know many people in my history class who've never even heard of the man.(probably because america and britain drown out many generals and field marshals with their own) E.I: eisenhower, montgomery. patton, etc but I would have to say discluding them Zhukove would have to be in the top 5 ranging around the 4th or 5th spot next to rommel, goering, Rundstedt, and auchinleck

Everytime i hear a disscussion about greatest generals, German generals always come to mind and it saddens me that Red Army Generals are never taken into consideration.
Even if Prussian commanders were great, Marshal Zuhkov was not only the first to stop the German blitzkreig (notably at Kursk) he also lead the longest blitzkreig counter attack that took the most land in a matter of two weeks. This man, along with other red army generals(Chouikov,Koniev,Rokos
ovsski), in my books, are legends! -
Well as a shock to the everybody the general is one of the few general officers I'd trust to not waste my life pointlessly. That number I can count on one hand. He's also on my even shorter list that if he said to charge hell with a bucket of water I'd be for to doing it without question and no need to threaten me.

@manbearpig1864 Poland signed non-agression pact with Hitler in 1934, England and France - in 1938.
>both invaded poland
Red Army entered Poland after defeat of polish army to prevent Wehrmacht in wesern Ukraine and Belorussia.
>soviet radio operators did help the nazi
Thats false.
-
@163linker the soviets and the nazis both invaded poland, it was the 1939 non aggresion act between joesph stalin and adolph hitler to split poland to avoid war between the ussr and nazi germany. So i would imagine that its logical that soviet radio operators did help the nazi invade poland while they invaded poland also
Bless you Zhukov! you saved the world from evil Nazis.

>Handing over Jews DIRECTLY to the SS
Thats false.
>Soviet radio operators guided Nazi bombers to Polish cities.
Thats total lie.
>Soviet oil was used to run Nazi tanks
American oil too. Everybody traded with the nazis, so USSR wasnt the worst.
>Soviet iron went into Nazi weapons.
Mostly Swedish iron.
