  • seems more like you are trrying to impress yourself about yourself. This is an instant turnoff for beginners.

  • Meth or coffee? I'm not sure which.

  • this is a jet engine, now build one

  • expertvillage sucks!

  • if you want to learn guitar as a beginner, do NOT come to expert village.

however if you do have a sturdy basis on theory expert village can be very helpful.

  • fair question, can only offer tips. learn to play over the changes[chords] by looking at what scales they come from. think of scalechords as one entity. in G play Gmaj over E7 play E mixolydian, may only be one bar of each, continue with Amin and D7 . this is a 1 6 2 5 prog. learn 2 5 1's from the great players, you will never copy them and will always be your own man. for modal sound ask mate to strum Dmin 8 bars and Eb7 8 bars, play the C scale over the Dmin7 and Eb7 mixolydian over Eb7.

  • Ugh.. Wizardofchron i agree with you man . These EXPERT village bullshit are always useless.. Well if anybody can help me please reply to this. Ive been playing for a while now. Id say for about a year. And ive recently got into jazz. So im looking up how to improv over a backing track. Im pretty good when it comes to blues because thats all ive played all year. Now im trying to learn jazz improv. can anyone help? What scale should i use? Major? How do i improv? Any examples?
  • i gotta say these videos are pretty useless.

sit down and listen to a jazz record and pick things up by ear. i watched a bunch of these and didn't learn a thing that i didn't already know. i still can't play jazz tho

  • Harmony has changed over the years with respect to the 7th degree chord. Today they play what is often called a half-diminished/min7flat5 chord but in older books & classical harmony you'd play a true diminished chord. So in Cmajor this man(and modern books) suggests you play these notes BDFA but classical harmony tells you to play B,D,F,Aflat. of course A flat is not in the key but it's a pleasing leading tone.

  • Totally agree with you in this part
