My grandfather has photos of his parents, my great grandparents, in typical circassian dress. The pictures are circa 1890 - I am proud to have caucasian heritage! a very informative video, thank you.

im told by my circassian friends that the main factor for the circassian deportations was their islamic faith. likewise, yermolov wanted to get rid of every chechen for this very reason.

many claim so, but we believe it is actually a bit exagarrated. The empire wanted to get rid of anyone who was not likely to assimilate, be it faith or ethnics. but many circassians leaving homeland actually followed the faith, so in a way, your friends are right, - one of the main factors was Islam.
