@froggo66 And why is the media's biased opinion considered educated?

edgylemon - My most favorite line from the song too, and yes so right pure genius, but also a person who understands the Human Condition very well. Beautiful metaphor indeed. Puts me in mind of that lovely quote - "All part of life's Rich Tapestry". We are all unique but are cut from the same fabric. Wonderful song.

the roxy...1985.... she'd just released her first, gypsy and luka were on the next...so it's like i was let into this very underground place.. i knew the secret handshake. my eyes still ache behind the man with whom i saw her...he introduced me to her music.... at the time worked at music+....

My favorite song of all time. Going on twenty years now. Suzanne Vega is timeless.

This is amazing. All of her songs are amazing, but there's something about this that's truley incredible.

sonn we all will gather again in the mist where decisions will be made. New gardens will be planted and poets will be dispatched. They will sing and raise what love they can. Many hearts will bloom and send out their calls, Some will carry grace like waterfalls.Their gardens will be lush. They are well known throughout the cosmos, rare and sought after. Many calls go out to these but there's always one or two that weep with gratitude for a clan so deep roused so gently from sleep Suzanne I weep

Suzanne's artistry is without equal anywhere in the world. She is a world treasure.

I've been listening to Suzanne Vega since I was a teen but haven't really listened or watched her in many years. I am sooo moved by her brilliant writing and music. I'm not even sure if I even own her music anymore because I had it on cassette.
This is definitely one of my favourite songs by Suzanne -- though she hasn't recorded a song I DON'T love. "Gypsy" is just a letter-perfect song -- sad, hopeful, complicated. It's too bad Suzanne is sometimes dismissed by the media as a one hit wonder (okay, maybe two hits if you include Tom's Diner). Her work has always been, and remains, unique, deceptively deep, musical, and inspired by both poetry and melody. Thanks for posting this wonderful clip of a great song.

My favorite line is: "Yeah, now I've met me another spinner of strange and gauzy threads." Who writes that? Genius.
