Maureen O'hara gives Brian Keith a wopper of a black eye in this classic Disney film The Parent Trap.

I own nothing in this film, all rights belong to Disney and anyone else associated with this film.

  • I own both versions, though I've only watched the LiLo version once. I prefer this one over the other because it has (in my opinion) better acting quality, and in my mind you can't remake a classic. It's just not the same. I do love Natasha Richardson though, may she rest in peace.

  • I love the little indirect sex puns in these scenes. LOL

  • This original is far better than the remake. I have to agree with you, it's rare when a classic movie is remade to be as good as the original. Hayley was a wonderful actress. I've seen her on several other movies. Especially British ones. And Maureen.... well, she's just one of my all time favorite classic actresses -- a combination of beauty, elegance, and spitfire sass.

  • I never tire of this movie, I watched it for the millionth time two nights ago. If I had to pick, this would be my favorite scene. But the whole movie is splendid!

  • I love this one. It brings me to tears even today. Thanks.

  • Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith really had great chemistry - fiery Irish personalities! They costarred together the following year in the Western "The Deadly Companions".

  • @Litebulb777 Glad to be of help. I didn't make the connection at first but once I read it on her website it made more sense! :) Love "McLintock!", fun movie.

  • @Sam7svu, Thanks! I've seen "McLintock!" a couple of times before but never made the connection. I think I'll watch "McLintock!" again now! :)

  • @Litebulb777 In the 1998 version the fencing scene where one twin falls into the water trough, the other lends a hand to help her out & the other pulls her in. Similar scene from Maureen's fall into the water trough in "McLintock". Also another that was pointed out was the camp counselor gets molasses dumped on her & then covered in feathers, similar to another scene of Maureen's from "McLintock!". :)

  • @escucha1797, Maybe the parents have more alone time because in this one the twins are thirteen, almost fourteen, and in the remake they're 11. Teenagers would be more independent than 11 year olds. The time it was made may have something to do with it as well. Who knows? Maybe children were more independent in the '60's, especially in these situations.

  • @Sam7svu, I've watched both versions and never really noticed any tributes to Maureen O'Hara (maybe I'm just really unobservant), although the children do have red hair in the remake. Do you think you could point out some specifics? It's been a while since I saw both in their entirety. Thank you!
