«Aquaglide-5» accelerates speed up to 170 km/hour in cruise mode. No other type of high-speed passenger vessels is capable to compete with WIG-craft in this parameter. Transition to flight mode occurs at speed of 90 km/hour approximately. Such a speed is reached within 40-50 sec. while movement over the water and a little bit faster above snow or ice surface. Even at movement in displacement mode at speed up to 90 km/hour «Aquaglide-5» has obvious superiority against conventional passenger vessels due to better acceleration capability and maneuverability.
Efficiency of «Aquaglide-5» can be estimated by three basic criteria: achievement of qualitatively new level of transport services granting in regions with the developed transport network; an opportunity for creation of transport networks in areas and geographical zones where application of conventional vehicles is impossible or ineffective; commercial advantage. Because it has a low passenger capacity but it is can use as private craft or sea taxi in many areas like Bahamas in the past. If this craft was a crap why this craft has sales instead of others? If you want to overcome a typhoon then you can choose a bigger Ekranoplan (400 seats).

As you see from photos the craft has a usage on different surface environment, the size of the craft and the wing geometry is crucial for the performance. Anyway you dont see the craft max. wave operation limits, try to find out in the video and maybe you learn something more on WIG craft technology (1.25 m at 90 km/h). The craft is based on Alekseevs last civilian Ekranoplan model the Volga 2. Is crap too? The Aquaglide-5 basically is a demonstration craft on WIG craft technology.

You must learn a lot about GE vehicles; this GE craft is in production since 1998. You must know that the first Aquaglide 5 has put in operation is US with 11 crafts. Another thought as low the GE craft flaring then has more efficient is (low fuel consumption), for that reason they called ground effect. This crap is certified by registering authorities and IMO. Probably you dont see the bigger models.
