@Pulchism that image is just created by feedback. you can use an image or light source to start with, but usually the ambient light in the room is enough to get it going.
in this clip we were using two projectors and two cameras, which added to the complexity of the outcome, but even with one projector (or monitor) and one camera you can get some amazing effects.
