Isn't Mr. Francescatti, as a musician, one of the greatest personalities? His tone, phrasing and beauty make him one of the greatest aristocrats in the world of violin playing.

ah, the Hart Strad. For me, the touchstone of the perfect violin! The Venus di Milo of violins! And noone draws a sound from this violin like Zino did.

Have the Francescatti and Casadesus album of Beethoven sonatas on vinyl. For pure musicianship, emotion, and beauty. Zino is hard to match. I had never seen him play live although I have been a musician (guitar) many years. This is a real gift and thanks to the poster. When you lose a guy like tZino (1991), there is never a replacement whether it be in rock (Hendrix), jazz (Coltrane), country/Americana (Chet Atkins) or any other idiom. Just a freakin' genius RIP.

I am always uplifted by the technique of Francescatti, especially the Beethoven. It was my first real entrance into the world of classical music.
