My Trio CD is available at: http://www.lot2learn.com This is a song I wrote many years ago and consider my "signature song" entitled "Not Quite Yet". I have other versions of this posted with some of the other groups I play with (trio, quintet) and here is the version from my Ante-up Studio session. We had so much fun doing this recording session for my CD - I think that is evident by our playing. I couldn't quite get Marty on upright bass into the frame for the video (you can sometimes catch a glimpse of his bass in the upper right-hand corner) but I do have some other videos from the session with Kip Reed on electric bass and he is nicely in the frame. The CD is a unique and energetic blend of originals and jazz standards - 13 songs in all. Available as an MP3 download or a physical CD as well as a DVD with all the videos from the session. The personnel are: Roger Friedman - Piano Matt Perko - Drums Kip Reed - Electric Bass Marty Greenberg - Acoustic Bass.

Recorded at Ante Up studios, Cleveland, Ohio.

  • Your comment is much appreciated.

  • Nice Roger! Great tune great wonderful playing. Heard some of the CD last night they were playing it during our breaks at Jazz 28. Congrats on the recording.

  • Thanks Glenn! I'll have to give you a copy when I see you (hopefully soon).

Your new CD is on permanent rotation in my car CD changer. Great compositions and great playing all the way! Congrats!

  • I like the way this really gets cooking about 3:15 - I notice the Eb5 on this piano is a bit out of tune. I sometimes wish I could detune just one key to add a bit more character to the sound.

  • Thanks Paul. The new version of Pianoteq Pro software actually does allow you to detune individual notes.

  • Thanks for this pointer to pianoteq. l don't think a modelled sound yet matches a sampled sound; it still sounds plucked more than hit, and there's not enough difference in character between notes - hence it probably needs shaping of the sound of each note. But ultimately modelling will prevail over sampling.

  • Thanks for the comment and the "triad trick". ;-)

  • I appreciate your comment Ed.

  • Grazie Alfonso. ;-)
