Great camera...glad to have it...but I was surprised to see how sloppy the 2 part helmet clamp base interfaces . A quarter inch or even a bit more of movement out at the case end!? THAT can only be bad for getting good video.

To be fair...I do not know if this is an issue with all of them. But the clamps I got with mine(and I purchased their 'grab bag' of extra clamps/sticky feet)all have this issue. So here is one way to simply fix it.
Electrical tape is right up there with Beef-a-roni among things I am thankful for. Here is just another reason why.

Plus...E-tape makes great stocking stuffers. Actually e-tape is all I get anybody for Christmas.(My wife gets a three pack!) It is the simple gift that shows you really care. and THAT is what this season is all about!

  • dude can u please tell me how the clamp is attached to your helmet? is it like glue or velcro or screws?? cheers.

  • @RaSsCLaTx24 gopro cams come with double surface sticky pads. They work real good if thesurface of your helmet is clean and shiny where you plan to attach.

  • I'm slowly but surely getting vids up...

  • that's what the orange piece is for, instead of electrical tape ;-)

  • hi...yeah...another guy was telling me that. But it is so quick to just put a couple strips inside the clamp and then forget about it. Why mess with the orange piece? if you have one helmet mount...I guess...but I have THREE helmets each with it's own clamp stuck on(and e-tape). Slide the cam in and no wobble no matter which helmet I want to use. Less stuff to mess with. but...yeah...I guess the orange thing will do the trick if you don't mind the extra piece.

  • So I guess in fairness I kinda take it back that GoPro was 'not' thinking about this. I still like my fix better (: (: (:

  • Great thanks I will try that .

  • nice video, i'm getting one of these for snowboarding. Is is possible for someone to steal it right off of my helmet?

  • iv got the same problem but mine still does it with the white/or orange plug, it only does it on my adheasive surf mount so i dont know what i could put on that to stop that vibration because it would need to be a matereil that well can get wet and hold up in the surf.

  • Thank u bro the other guy was week az he'll

  • @YouTees excellentman cheers pal.

  • I agree 100%, opening and closing the case is not rocket science!

  • I agree with you. For a $300 camera I was really surprised how much it moved while mounted. While I didn't see it moving in my video, I did hear it. During my whole video i heard something rattling. Thanks for the advice.

  • The orange piece will actually not fix this problem, though it seems to improve it slightly. The problem is that the vertical dimensions of the clip halves are wrong. Putting the orange piece in just swells the horizontal dimension a bit. The extra friction helps slightly with the wobble, but definitely doesn't fix it.

I started use gorilla tape on mine and found that one layer is all that will fit along the whole length, but you can add an extra layer on the last 3/8" or so to help even more.

  • excellent video. thanks for sharing.

  • well done man!

  • Have you used it yet? I cant wait to see how well it works!
