Cheerios Kid and Sue: Sunken Treasure

In this undersea adventure, Kid and "girlfriend" Sue travel under water and uncover a treasure chest filled with a million dollars, to only come face to face with a anthromorphic sawfish. After Kid thrashes the sawfish and saves Sue, the two children recover the chest full of money, as an announcer's voice over says that the audience too can get in on the action!

In this age of lawsuits, I'm surprised nobody tried to sue General Mills over this. The commercial claims to give you strength. If that's the case, Popeye would have been sued too.

@daisymex: Yeah. But the thing is, they DO give you strength. NOT superheroic strength as shown (cue false advertising lobbyists), but the energy to battle off bad cholesterol & other health hazards, since both the blandness of Cheerios (without all the sweetness of its Honey Nut, Frosted, & Chocolate versions) and the fact that spinach is a vegetable makes them inherently good & healthy for you.

@Timbrock1000: Well, in the commercials, Cheerios acted like a power-up, with Kid and Sue being similar to Popeye and Olive (or in videogames, Mario and Peach).

What a crock! I remember this. What they did was take 1 million in $1 bills, and place them in random boxes of Cheereios. Then told kids to buy a box, and MAYBE they would find one of those $1 bills. (Cheereios, $1.85 in 1986 when this commercial was made) Also, notice while the girl in the commercial was being chased by that shark, her friend was eating breakfast! LOL

Just like the B&W versions of Mickey & Minnie Mouse. FYI, I noticed my error in regards to the sawfish, but didn't bother to correct it. And they certainly do not make ads like this anymore.

Alligator? I guessed it was a sawfish, but in commercials, you can play fast and loose with details, including talking underwater. I was never sure of Kid's relationship with Sue. They look enough alike to be siblings, and they have a penchant for getting each other into dire situations. Oh well. They don't make ads like this anymore.
