Visit the remnants of the Tonopah Army Airfield which arose from the Nevada sands to support the World War II war effort and see its final gasp as the sands of time return it to its origin.

  • Yes, I remember seeing it near the ammunition bunkers and I recall finding several car parts around the area.

  • I was just passing through and decided to visit the museum in town. When I left to go search for petroglyphs towards the town of Alamo I had no idea that my route would take me near the airfield. When I saw the hanger from the highway I could not resist a detour. I am glad I stopped - this is one of my favorite videos.

  • Tonopah was a gem and fascinating. It is one of my favorite videos.

  • thats right behind the race track

  • My hometown. Passed by here at least every few weeks until I was 16 without a thought. Fun to see this. Will have to stop by when I head to the class reunion in May.

  • @storiesbyalex Who is keeping the floors swept clean?

  • I am sure that most people today driving by to those buildings couldn't tell you what purpose that area once served.
