Freek de Jonge stond in 1997 op nummer 1 in de top 100, met zijn nummer Leven Na De Dood (muziek: Bob Dylan). Dit is een VHS-opname, vandaar de nare kwaliteit.

  • @BeamterA12 Oops! Although "because he's been there" is a correct translation, it should of course be "he's done for."

Btw, it's no wonder that you had trouble understanding the verse at 2:16. It's full of slang. Rubber=condom, snikkel=penis, and poot=homosexual.

  • @BeamterA12 1/2

    0:14 Whether you’re a Christian, a Hindu•An Islamite or a Jew•There’s life after death

So pitch your tent in Mecca•Prey devoutly, “Allah is great”•There’s life after death

0:37 It'd be nice if you people return that refrain. So when I sing, “After death,” you respond, “After death.” OK?

0:59 Fuck the environment•Long live CO2 emission•There’s life after death

So feel free to run an orange traffic-light•Give full throttle if the lights are red•There’s life after death

  • @BeamterA12 2/2

1:31 My dad in heaven says•±They’re partying every day•And my dad knows/should know•Because he’s been there

2:16 Put your unprotected pecker•In a hetero or a fag•There’s life after death

If you wanna leave Tirana•Then go by boat for a giggle•There’s life after death

2:48 Have you overcome your fear of dying?•±Do you party every day?•So started today•You’re done for before you know it

3:13 Could anything happen to Seedorf•When he shot from 11 meters?•There’s life after death

  • @Suteruni Thanks for your comment. We've the same song in Germany, too. With German lyrics of course :-) I only asked for translation because I wanted to know if the lyric is the same. Often, the song has current lyrics concerning anything that appeared in news or society. But some sentences are always the same - like to stop when the trafficlight is orange, but to drive over crossroad when the trafficlights are red.

  • @BeamterA12 I think it's like this, being dutch: a lot of us were raised in a christian way : be good and don't do bad. Do bad and you will go to hell. Then he sings about dutch ppl being bad and getting away with it.think it may be a culture thing tbh. Not just a matter of understanding the lyrics. To me it seems he struggles with the way he was raised and makes fun out of it. A lot of dutch ppl may recognise this and it makes them, me laugh. Thx for your comments and questions, made me think ;)

  • @Entilzha666 Thanks, but I'd like to know what he suggests to speeding up the act of dying. I understood that he said you should stop at traffic-lights when its orange but drive when its red. Esp. the senctence at 2:18 seems to be very funny. And after that he's singing anything about leaving Tirana. But I don't know waht he is suggesting exactly. The sentences a very short, but hard to understand.

  • @BeamterA12 It is sort of funny song about Life after death. He sings in full sentences in Rhyme about doing whatever you want, because there is life after death.

It is a very laissez-faire song. (No cares, no worries, whatever we do, there is life after death)

And some sentences are about speeding up the act of dying, because there is, life after death!

But all in a very funny way :)

  • Same questions as an other user already asked 2 month ago: Whats the meaning of this song?

I only understand some parts. It's hard to follow his lyrics as I haven't enough knowledge of dutch language. But his sentences seem to be very funny for the audience. It would help to understand the full sentences to know why they're laughing.
