Mr. Galen Carey, National Association of Evangelicals ----
Stretching across 42 states, the Esperanza network includes over 12,000 Hispanic churches and community non-profits ranging from Roman Catholic to Pentecostal. The Esperanza for America campaign will use this network as a base, enlisting individuals and organizations across the country to mobilize their communities and contact their elected officials in support of comprehensive reform. The campaign aims to ensure that the voices of the Hispanic community, and the 65% or more of Americans who support immigration reform, are heard by Congress and answered with action.
At the launch, Esperanza President Luis Cortes, Jr. was joined by key leaders of the Hispanic faith-based community who make up the Esperanza for America leadership team, including Gospel star Marcos Witt, to urge Democrats and Republicans in Congress to press ahead on this key priority.
It is about time that true Evangelicals and Christians raise their voice, about this social and moral issue, over that of what the media would like people to believe. Most of mass media today is controlled by few powerful interests and, unfortunately, their materialistic agendas do not always coincide with Christian values. May the Lord increase His anointing and blessings on the NAE and Esprranza for America regarding this cause.
