Basically, a great western that I really enjoyed, but somewhat spoilt by Steiger's overacting. As a cowboy Iago to Borgnine's Othello, quiet, urbane allusion and insinuation were called for to convince a doting husband of marital infidelity, but instead he sneered, shouted and ranted much more than when playing a defeated Napoleon. And why that irritatingly bizarre accent, when, although a New Yorker, his Southern accent in The Heat of the Night sounded authentic at least to my ears. Thanks!
