Joe Hill IS alive. In fact,he's in Madison Wisconsin right now. I'm sure that he'd like to meet Joan and her old beau, Bobby Dylan.(He's right from our neighborhood.) All is now on the line, Brothers and Sisters.

Until workers in this country realize their voice will not be heard unless it is a collective voice, unions will continue to die, the wealthy and powerful will take more and more money, the workers will have less and less benefits, and the country will fall further into despair, eventually disappearing into oblivion. Unions are necessary in capitalism if those who work are to receive any of the pie.

Great song and kind of sad watching this great moment, knowing what a beating the unions have taken since 1980, and sadder when you see workers themselves have been bamboozled into aiding in the dismantling themselves, believing the lies that unions have hurt America...this lie told time and time again by the wealthiest who are laughing at how easy it was to con the people, laughing all the way to the bank while the people fill the unemployment lines or work much longer hours for shorter pay.

It's confusing, but this is not Phil Ochs' "Joe Hill". His version was based upon the standard " John Hardy", although his lyrics are original and, as usual, quite impressive. More than 10 years after Phil died, Billy Bragg wrote a version of this song Baez is singing here called "I Dreamed I Saw Phil Ochs Last Night".

Like others said; not by Phil Ochs. He also sang this ("I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night") in addition to his own song "Joe Hill" Listen to both songs and retain the spirit of Joe Hill.
