@kevin2fla If you're diabetic, your body gets hungry, even though you just ate. The reason was there is no or minimal insulin available to transport the energy to your muscles. So, your body goes through catabolism, using your fats or protein from muscle to get the fuel the body needs. That's why you have ketoacidosis because the protein and fats are floating around your blood system.

Didn't actually say what causes the disease though. It's caused by too many keto acids in the blood, and the blood becomes too acidic.

I have had type 1 diabetes for the last 42 years and I am disabled with it. I have tried commiting suicide several times in the past because of stress. Keytoacidosis will not kill you instantly, it will be a long long agonizing period of time. Sadly enough for me I was not able to withstand the suffering long enough to go into a coma. After deciding that I was going to suffer for a long period of time I took large amounts of regular insulin like 300 units. I hate this life.
Doesn't it also occur in Type II?
