We have two young cats who have picked up words from us. One of them chatters away in her own version of English, and you really can pick out words if you listen carefully. It may sound like Mew to YOU, but there are different words in there. The other day she wanted me and tried to turn the door knob with her paws, crying Mum Mum, and when John shut her out of that room she started crying Dad, Come! Mock if you must but it's really true. Listen to this and see. Of course, they never will do it right when they are being filmed so this is the best I could get.

  • Thanks for your comment - nobody believes us and this video isn't their best effort, BUT, yes they really do talk - they have a whole range of appropriate comments inclidung no, help, don't know, dad, mum, hello, come on and other things. They don't say them at random, but in conversation so i KNOW it's real. Like yours they reply to a question "where's your toy mouse?" "dunno" OR "don't you like your food? "nooo". I've become so used to Sixie having a conversation that I can't imagine otherwise

  • @BonnyBunny4real I noticed the efforts of my Bengal mix cats to communicate shortly after they were brought to me..a couple of weeks ago...The mom is very chattery and told me to change the litter box by making a growling sound at it...(they were smelly and manourished when they first came to us so they stank up their living space very quickly)..But when I asked the mom and the big boy where squeeka was, they both responded with the same phrase...that happened to sound like "don't know"

  • I am fostering some part Bengals who talk...The mom cat often mimics my tone of voice, and earlier when I asked her and her son where the littlest kitten was, they both responded with the same meow that sounded like "I don't know"....I eventually found her way on the other side of the warehouse

  • what a gorgeous video!! i smiled the whole way through it!! partly in recognition of my own cats!!!!!
