EDIT: ICH SPRECHE KEINE DEUTSCH!! // I DO NOT SPEAK GERMAN! so dont give german comments, I don't understand them, thank you.
EDIT 2: Thanks to a certain someone, I have to put all you guys through awaiting my approval for posting on this video. I'm very sorry, but that's what happens when you misbehave. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience for anyone who was willing to behave/listen etc.

so...
I guess I was bored, again... o.o""

so ye let's first go for explaining what the song is about, because no one knows! :D ... lol
anyway
Oden (Wodan in dutch) is the supreme god of the scandinavian mythology (read the Edda). The song describes some of the things he did, especially regarding/ concerning the "Midgaard people" of who I am not sure who they are.

Yggradsil would be the world tree. Mimir is a jotun (a giant) that guards the well/spring/source of wisdom. And im sure there are many more terms I can explain but I'll get to that some other time.

now regarding my translation, I meant to say "ancient god" where I wrote "old god" I'm not sure why I didn't write ancient as planned, but it doesn't change the meaning of the song. Would just have looked better, in my opinion.

then last but not least I do not own this music, it belongs to Heidevolk as the title states. I made this lyrics video for pure entertainment reasons and not to gain any profit/ credit from it.
enjoy

  • Imo, it is a bit inconsistent to use the Norse/Swedish name Oden for Odin while using the English name Thor for Tor.

NB: The world tree is spelled 'Yggdrasil'

  • @jomen112 For your information, I have dyslexia so I see no difference between Thor and Tor unless I look at the words for over 15 minutes. Besides I was corrected on writing Oden when I had Odin before so who the heck am I supposed to believe?

  • "ICH SPRECHE KEINE DEUTSCH!!" Nice try!

  • @DirtyFreaks What are you trying to say? That you do not believe my German is crap or that even my shout of "I don't speak German!!" is grammatically incorrect?

  • Idk if anyone has posted the translation already but here they are ^^

Morituri te salutant: Those who will die salute you

Ora pro nobis: pray for us

    Carpe diem: Get/pick/enjoy the day

Timeo Danao et dona ferente: I fear the greek even when they are bringing presents

Gutta cavat lapidem non vi sed saepe cadendo: The drop hollows the stone/cave, not with violence, but by falling often.

Midgaard volk. Midgaard is Oud noords. Scandinavie dus. Oftewel het betreft hier de Noorse god Oden. Dus niet de saksische god Wodan. Het kan goed zijn dat Heidevolk de fout in ging hier en dat het wel over Wodan ging. Toch koos ik Oden. Deal with it. Thank you.

  • lol Wodan is not the same as Oden:P Wodan is the Germanic version of the Scandinavic Oden ;) Still much thanks for posting this awesome song! Wodan heerst <3

  • Proud to be a Dutch metalhead \m/

  • @axecarver

Well, unlike many Greek and Roman Gods (Jupiter/Zeus being the only exception I can think of), they are etymologically linked. Donar, þunor, and Thor all all descended from the proto-Germanic word for thunder, þonaroz or or þunraz, for instance. So in theory, these names all developed from the same word.
