Right. Another remix? And it's some random bimbo again? Well Lee Pani could actually hold that title since she's not even a signer. She's a model, featured on playboy korea a few years ago. As you can see AutoTune and some audio engineering can do miracles and make everybody a singer. Yes the music video is cheap; obviously their budget was not that high but is more than enough for my trance remix.
That's the fierce way to see things though; for me the story is quite different. I don't really care about the background of the singer, how many fathers she has, how many sex tapes have been leaked out by ex-boyfriends or how many plastic surgeries she had. All I care about is how she feels in the music video and how her voice feels over my effects.
Because of her background though I did expect that this song will be B-classified in Korea - I was wrong. I could listen this song around at various places when in Korea and that's mainly the reason I've remembered it and decide to remix it.
Now on to the remix details, I could get an exceptionally clean vocal track out of this - every annoying music sound from the original is removed with minimal vocal damage - that's why I went with such an uplifting trance remix. I do play a lot with the voice and I intentionally left the voice at relatively high levels, so this is more accessible to pop-fans. To put it in a more technical way the vocals have a front-ish stereo direction meaning that as you listen to the track the voice is in top-front of you while the rest of the instruments are playing around you.
There are many points (such as when she says "nappa" and "appa") that I use a lot of delay and other effects. I'm sure some people might complain about it but remember this is a trance remix supposed to be played at clubs where people are tripping around so a clean voice would be really boring.
Now on to the lyrics, I actually like them and I find them much more meaningful and passionate than many other pop hits out there. On my last remix (that's Hyuna - Change) I almost did the translation on my own - using some help from the many translations available around. This time though there was no translation so I had to translate the whole thing my self. It actually took me much less than I though and I'm quite happy with the translation I did. It's in easy international English for everybody to read and feel the meaning of the song. In other words it's efficiency over accuracy.
This is actually my first time to ever release my 100% own translation from some Korean song and it brings back memories from back in 2004 when I first did that for a Japanese song. For some reason it took me much less time to reach that level in Korean than it took for Japanese.
