@MuayThaiViking Try "Asian Fighting Arts" by R. Smith and D. Draeger. You'll get some good insight, historical and cultural, on how fights in China were made in those times. China and elsewhere.
To give you an idea, fights were (or could be) to death. If a challenger asked for a fight to death, the owners of the school challenged could not refuse. So the main question is rather : how would do mma sportsmen then ?
@MuayThaiViking Do you even know the name of "that style?" If you really knew anything about Chinese GongFu, you'd know that nearly all styles have Chin Na applications; wrestling, grappling, and jointlock moves.
"MuayThaiViking," sounds like a man determined to make himself seem a legend. Maybe just another troll trying to run the pointless age old argument of "which style is superior." A true master of any style is someone not to mess with, whether it be as soft as Taiji or as hard as Hung Gar
@MuayThaiViking , No, I just don't care to do your research for you. China is a society obsessed with record keeping and Sun is a fairly famous historical figure. Just do a google search.
@woodwalk i simply ask for some sources and you try to make a personal attack on me, making it sound as if i never read books. good job! your lack of answer to my simple question is pretty much an answer in itself :)
@MuayThaiViking Try reading a book sometime, it would do you some good. He is a fairly well researched historical figure but has been dead for a good while.
@woodwalk who did he fight, and do you have any real sources? any competitions he competed in or news paper articles? or is it just rumors and the usual myths with no credibility
but as far as i know, they dont train ground fighting in that style. so that would definitely be a must before he even tried mma
@MuayThaiViking He was undefeated in 300 some odd matches all over a country where almost all fighting was done by hand or with hand held weapons. So very well, particuarly if it were no holds barred.
The average traditional kung fu masters from the 1700's were 20-25 times a strong as Mike Tyson. Back when kung fu was important for survival they took it very serious and trained to very high levels.
@KokoroSky2 mma sportsmen would probably rape all the challengers

But overall, that question is absurd.
