i was curious about the last scene so i looked it up... and what i found made good sense:

It took me several viewings to understand this last scene, which has to do with what the Frenchmen did to little animals his dog caught and killed. He "planted" them as if they were seeds, so they would "sprout" again.

I loved the film, but I still wonder why on Earth he killed Rolf. Well, since he is mentally confused... I guess that has to make as sense as his other oddnesses.

I think the guy would ha had a worse fate had he been alive and under arrest... as for the last part...a few moments with the dead may mean just that or necrophelia... its up to the viewer to interpret in his own way...

@HiloPicolo123 Hey, it's called 'Nous etions un seul homme'. That translates as 'We were one man' or something along those lines. I know what you mean - it's a strange film but still oddly engaging somehow. ;)
